We’re delighted to announce the charity scooter ride on behalf of the Neonatal Department at Heartlands Hospital was a resounding success! If you haven’t already, donate here to help a premature baby today.

Our thanks go to David Thomas, Martin Baker, Steve Sale, Stephen Jones, John Tims and Keith Ingram for their efforts in riding the 340 mile route from Birmingham to Edinburgh.

Riding from 5am on the morning of 14th July 2018, the Stechford scooter team were in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire by 8am, Rochester (on the border) by 1:30pm and Edinburgh by 3pm!

The lads’ sponsored ride is part of a fundraiser by Stechford Mobility. As a leading mobility firm with strong family ties to the Heartlands Hospital Charity, we’re aiming to raise £30,000 for them in the coming year.

Our total of £30,000 will help the countless premature babies that enter the ward every year, so any amount you can add to the total is greatly appreciated. The money will go towards the costs of life-saving equipment such as an incubator or heart-monitoring machines.

As well as the scooter ride out, Martyn and his sister-in-law, Amy Price, are part way through a year of intense obstacle races with at least one planned for each season. The last event on June 2nd was a Summer Wolf Run that was no sweat for the now veteran team. The Autumn Wolf run takes place on September 1st.

Many local friends and businesses are pitching in, including Kent’s UK Barbers who are hosting donation buckets in their premises. Handicare, a supplier of quality stairlifts to Stechford Mobility, donated a generous £2,000 to the cause. And we’d like to thank Pitbull Motorcycles and Ian at Chas Mann for providing sponsorship and on-site mechanics for the scooter ride. A heartfelt thank you to all.
