Choosing the Perfect Stairlift: Top Tips & Recommendations
If getting up the stairs is a challenge but you don’t want to uproot and move home, a stairlift could be the perfect solution.
There is a type of stairlift to suit every home, but with so many options available it can be difficult to know where to start.
Thankfully, Ideas in Action has put together this handy guide to finding the right stairlift for you.
Get it right first time
To ensure you get the correct stairlift first time, simply discuss your needs with a specialist in stairlift installation and design. Mobility equipment specialists are happy to visit you at home and during this visit they will gather a few details about you and your stairs.
A mobility specialist will:
- Measure your stairs
- Measure your leg (to ensure you do not graze your knees while using the stairlift)
They may also:
- Measure your height (if your stair’s ceiling is very low)
- Ask your approximate weight (to guarantee the right choice of stairlift)
- Ask questions related to your hand dexterity and whether you are left or right handed
New Stairlifts
All new stairlifts from Ideas in Action come with a standard 12 month warranty, with the option to extend this to 3 years for your complete peace of mind.
During the warranty period, should your stairlift malfunction, simply contact a member of our team – repairing your stairlift will instantly become our number one priority.
Reconditioned Stairlifts
Reconditioned stairlifts represent exceptional value for money. For as little as £850, Ideas in Action fit reconditioned straight stairlifts with a standard 12 month warranty.
If you want affordability and additional peace of mind, we offer ‘Grade A’ reconditioned stairlifts. This simply means the stairlift is less than 12 months old and comes with a standard 12 month warranty.
Unfortunately, reconditioned stairlifts are not always available and are subject to availability. To find out whether a reconditioned stairlift is in stock, contact a member of the Ideas in Action team.
Curved Stairlifts
Curved stairlifts are capable of going around bends in the staircase as well as travelling across landings and half landings with ease. The chair travels along curved tracks that are made to measure, so you are guaranteed a perfect fit.
However, a bespoke fit means curved stairlifts are more expensive than a straight stairlift. Practical and comprehensive lifts, such as the Handicare 2000, are comfortable, robust and allow for ease of travel on stairs with multiple bends.
Straight Stairlifts
Straight stairlifts only travel in a straight line up and down the stairs. Because of their simple operation and installation, they are installed quickly and cause minimal disruption. In cases of emergency, Ideas in Action can fit models like the Brooks Straight Stairlift on the same day as ordering.
Straight stairlifts also benefit from being the most affordable models in our range.
