Yes. Mobility scooters will either come in 4, 6 or 8mph formats. Powerchairs will not typically come in an 8mph version.

This can vary depending on your usage. All mobility scooters and powerchairs will come with a battery gauge so as you can see what life is left in your batteries and when to charge it. A member of staff can better advise the frequency of charging once they have had a chat with you about your potential usage. One thing we do advise however, is that whenever you do charge your product, always charge it for at least 8-12 hours.

To be driven on the road, your mobility product would need to be 8mph and have lights and indicators. However, we would advise, where possible, to drive on the pavement.

We would strongly recommend that you take out mobility insurance on your product through our trusted partners Mark Bates Ltd. Although it is not compulsory at this stage, mobility insurance does come with a dedicated breakdown recovery service.

This will depend on the size of the product. Most 4mph products will either disassemble or fold up. There are then a few 6mph and 8mph products that will disassemble.

We do not offer a rental scheme on our mobility products unfortunately.

Regardless of whether you purchase a new or reconditioned model, your scooter or powerchair will come with a warranty period attached. During this period, any callouts, parts and labour are covered as long as the fault is a result of the equipment failing through mechanical or electrical issues. What is not covered by any warranty period is if any fault has occurred through customer error, such as accidental damage or incorrect charging. Items such as batteries are classed as consumables and so will not be covered under warranty after the first 12 months.

Stairlifts do have a weight limit. We stock the highly advanced and practical Handicare stairlifts. The weight limit on stairlifts vary across our range.

The Handicare 2000 has a weight limit of 21 1/2 stone with a heavy duty kit added. The Handicare 1000 however has actually got a weight limit of 31st when upgraded to the XXL model. This means that the stairlift will be installed by experts and thoroughly checked to make sure it fits you and your home perfectly. We’ll also stay with you on your installation date for as long as you need until you are confident you know how to use your stairlift safely.

Don’t worry about being stuck on the stairs during a power cut. Modern stairlifts use D/C batteries to move you up and down the stairs. These batteries are hidden from view and connect to the mains power. This means that the mains charge the batteries and the batteries move the chair along the track.

So, should you be unfortunate enough to have a power cut, your stairlift will still work. Many stairlifts have enough power to make up to 20 trips on a single charge.

The lights on your stair are part of its troubleshooting mechanism. They can indicate all is well, or that there is an issue of some sort. Please refer to our Handicare Stairlift Troubleshooting guide for the fault codes that you may comes across.
