The hills, mud pits and man-made obstacles of the Spring Wolf Run were no match for Martyn Thomas of Stechford Mobility, whose goal to raise £30,000 for the Heartlands Hospital Charity is off to a promising start.
After his daughter, Lyla, was born 9 weeks premature in 2015, Martyn received the help of Heartlands Hospital and was so grateful for their care and support – both of Lyla and her parents – that Martyn wanted to give something back.
Joined by Lyla’s aunt, Amy Price, the two set a blistering time of 2 hours for the 10km course with over 15 obstacles to contend with. This includes the chilling Alpha lake, that takes many of the runners out of the running each year, followed by a tiring final 500 metres and mud bath finish.
This is just the start for the team at Stechford Mobility. Along with other members of the team, Martyn is taking on at least 4 more obstacle races to raise the £30,000 for Heartlands Hospital. Next up is the Tough Mudder Run on 20th May.
Following this is a Summer Wolf Run, then a sponsored vintage scooter ride from the Stechford Mobility shop in Birmingham to Edinburgh Castle.
Stechford Mobility would also like to thank Handicare for their generous donation of £2,000 to the fundraiser. Stechford and Handicare have been working hard to keep the people of Birmingham mobile and happy in their own homes for years. We provide the expert knowledge and Handicare tender the best stairlifts to suit any mobility needs.
